Best Practices In Survivor-Focused Emergency Response to be Explored May 1-2, 2007 In Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (PRWeb) March 20, 2007 -- The Family Assistance Foundation will hold its sixth annual symposium May 1-2 at the Hilton Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, GA.

The two-day conference will bring together survivors, family members who have spoken out about needs, industry officials and responders. The symposium provides delegates, including survivors, the opportunity to share lessons learned and information about how to continually improve response efforts and business practices in the transportation and hospitality industries and beyond. A diverse lineup of speakers and panel members will discuss best practices in emergency and crisis response, with an emphasis on how these efforts can be improved.

"While our genesis was in the airline industry, we find today that representatives from businesses of all kinds are interested in how to better prepare employees and volunteers to respond during tragic events or mass casualties," said Jeff Morgan, president of the Family Assistance Foundation. "Often times companies assume that their Human Resources departments have a plan for how they'll respond if employees or customers are injured, only to find out at the worst possible time that they aren't properly prepared. This conference will attune you to the needs of others and best practices in these situations," Morgan adds.

Panels and presentations will include:
•    Reclaiming the Sky: 9/11 and the Untold Story of the Men and Women Who Kept America Flying
•    Survivors and Responders of the July 7, 2005 terrorist attacks in London
•    Crisis communications in the New Media World
•    ABOVE AND BEYOND THE NORM: What some Companies are doing to support their employees and their communities during tragic times
•    Victim Identification: An International and National Perspective, What Should Family Assistance Teams Know?
•    Milestones: Northwest Flight 255 - August 16, 1987
•    Research: Issues pertaining to Care Teams and Family Assistance
•    Case Study: Suggestions for a more Integrated Approach to International Disaster Response (perspective of a family who lost their son and his fiancé in the December 26, 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia
